Automotive Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an
energetic, self-motivated Electrical Design Engineer to help build the
next generation of high-energy automotive battery systems.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in automotive hardware design.

The
candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional
environment which is rapidly expanding and offers new challenges every
day. Ability to take ownership and work independently are extremely
valuable in this challenging but exciting role.

Responsibilities
* Create schematics in Altium and develop system-level BOM's ( Bill of Materials ) for the designs
* Simulate and test designs using PC software to prove that the design will meet the system objectives
* Oversee board layout insuring proper EMC ( ElectroMagnetic Compatibility ) guidelines are considered
* Work with validation group arranging electrical, EMI ( ElectroMagnetic Interference )/ EMC and environmental testing
* Develop FMEA on designs and concepts to provide more reliable designs
* Assist in test plan development and working with suppliers
* Assist in component selection and sourcing
* Perform module level testing and confirm the module operates to required specifications
* Perform in-vehicle testing and assist with vehicle development


Requirements
* BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering
* 5 years previous design experience in automotive hardware design
* Experience with automotive product development and qualification

* Experience using electrical tools for development testing
(multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, etc.)
* Experience with mechanical assemblies and an understanding of mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical devices
* Experience with embedded hardware design preferably Freescale HCS12/HCS08 architectures
* Ability to analyze data and determine trends and look for failure points
