Who We Are

EnergyCS creates, designs and builds dynamic control systems for large-format, high voltage electrochemical storage systems.  The company has patented and trade-secret technology which it markets to innovators and developers, other engineering firms and OEMs.  For many customers we also install and integrate hardware and software in their vehicle or other application.  Our goal is to “make a positive difference every day”.

What We Do

The general goal of EnergyCS is to provide hardware and software that will enable our customers to bring their products to market quickly and successfully.  Intensive work studying and applying existing batteries enabled the creation of hardware and software to monitor and control large-format, high-energy and high voltage battery systems ranging from 72 to 1200 volts, 500Wh to 1mWh.  From its initial work to develop technology to put a hydrogen hybrid on the road came the deployment of  a fleet of ‘100mpg’ Prius in the U.S. and Europe.  ECSE technology is in place in such varied applications as automobiles (NEV, Plugin Prius, OEM developments), all-electric pickup trucks and delivery trucks, hybrid highway trucks, hybrid locomotives, stationary peak-shaving power storage and several “dark projects”.  Battery technology is evolving rapidly, which has presented the enthusiastic staff opportunities to innovate and improve the control system technology.

Origins

In early 2001, three engineers joined forces to build a company that would apply electrochemical storage to modern transportation.  Their idea was ‘If it is moved by batteries we can dynamically control the energy!’  From the humble beginnings (the first battery pack was built in the garage of one of the founders) EnergyCS became a multi-million dollar company with customers worldwide.  Perhaps more importantly, the pioneering work done by EnergyCS has had a strong influence on the development of battery system technology leading to the present interest and growth in applications of electrochemical storage. EnergyCS expertise built the first plugin in 2004 which created a new market for conversions of regular hybrids.

Led by Pete Nortman, EnergyCS retains more than 100 years of cumulative experience in battery and electric propulsion systems, vehicle integration and control.
